About Me

About Me

My name is Penny Ogg and I am a candidate for Highlands County Supervisor of Elections.
I have lived in Highlands County permanently since May 1991, when I married my wonderful husband, Brad (he is a native of Highlands County).  I had lived in Highlands County previously in the mid 1980's when my parents came to Avon Park to help assist in the Missionary Aviation Program operated by Rev. Thomas Shankweiler.  He started the Orange Blossom Community on CR17A,  where he pastored the Community Bible Church for several years.
My husband and his brother Brian, currently own a construction company, Mid-State Management INC. They had previously worked with their father, Sam Ogg, and Ogg Construction Company that has been in business in Sebring for nearly forty years.
Brad and I have a twenty year old daughter, Holly, who currently works at Bank of America. She previously worked at Dairy Queen of South Sebring.
My family and faith are very important to me. I am actively involved at Bethel Holiness Church, where I am a charter member, and my Father is the pastor.  I attended Union Bible College for 1 year following my High School graduation where I majored in Music and Bible History.  While there I sang with the college choir and ensemble and played the piano for a male quartet.
Prior to becoming involved with the Elections process, I assisted my husband with his construction business as the office manager, working with payroll, accounts receivable and payables.  During this time, I also attended South Florida Community College and learned Medical Transcription which after completing the course, I worked at for a period of time. While working the Elections cycles, I also worked at Florida Hospital Heartland Division as a Commercial Insurance and Medicare biller.
I have always had a deep love for my Country and an interest in the election process. Sensing my need to become an active participant in elections, I signed up to become a pollworker in August 2004. My first work assignment was in Precinct 10. It was not long after that I was approached with the opportunity to assist the pollworker trainers. Later a position opened to become one of two pollworker trainers and I gladly accepted the position. I was also given duties of Early Voting coordinator and technician for our Evid election machines. I currently work in the main Elections office full time.
I have been exposed to and assisted in all facets of the Election process and I believe my experience and committment, qualify me as the best candidate. I hope to succeed, Mr. Joe A. Campbell, whose integrity, knowledge, and passion for this process, inspires me to carry on his legacy.
