Do you know what today is????

It is Buy a Musical Instrument Day

Yes, May 22nd is buy a Musical Instrument Day!   Music is a big part of all of our lives.  It expresses our feelings and lifts our spirits.  I love music, especially patriotic...there is nothing like hearing the Star Spangled Banner or Proud to be an American!
Did you know that I play several musical instruments???   Actually I play 3, can you guess which 3?
I also love to sing, especially at church.
Do you play an instrument or like to sing?   Why don't you leave a message and tell us what you play or maybe what your favorite song/group is?    I'd love to hear your stories of music!
All of us can polish up our vocal cords because soon 4th of July will be here and we will want to make music to celebrate our Country!

God Bless America, and may God bless us all!

Thank you all for your support,
Penny

Today is Armed Forces Day!

This is simply a day to salute sharply to all of the men and women in all branches of the service who protect our country and you. They can be called upon at a moment's notice to perform a risky and perilous mission for freedom and country. They train diligently both physically and mentally so they will be prepared to prevail in any mission they face.

Just how did it all begin? Well, each branch of the military had their own day of celebration. But, on August 31, 1949 then Secretary of Defense Louis Johnson announced the creation of Armed Forces Day. President Harry Truman also announced the holiday in a presidential proclamation on February 20, 1950. All branches of the military were asked to celebrate on this day and they complied on the first Armed Forces Day which was held the following year on May 20, 1950.

So take some time to send an email, make a phone call or send a care package to our military people and say Thank You!  For all they do and how they protect us, we are very blessed!

DID YOU KNOW???

Did you know that today is....

No dirty dishes day?????    A Colorful Cartoon of a Stack of Dirty Dishes - Royalty Free Clipart Picture

No?  I didn't either, but now you know!  Celebrate by visiting your local restaurant, I know they will appreciate your business.

Have a great evening!

Happy Friday....

Here's to a very Happy Friday and a wonderful weekend to each one of you!   It has been a busy week for me as I was in Tampa at the Annual Conference for Elections Officials.  A lot of information and learning in the sessions but all of it value in the quest for complete and accurate elections.  There is so much involved in the election process, most of it is unseen and unknown by those not involved within the office.  Cast your vote for someone who has experience and knows how to LEAD the office to consistent successful elections like Highlands County has enjoyed for many years.  County offices need Leadership not Management...we need our Leaders to be involved in the election process!
This is an important election!  Let your friends, family, neighbors and co-workers know to vote Penny Ogg on August 14th.  Thank you so much and enjoy your weekend!

Hello to all of you! It's been a crazy few weeks around here, and I apologize for the lack of updates!! I will try to better with that in the future!

Last Monday evening, we had our first campaign meeting, at Dairy Queen of South Sebring. The owners there, have so graciously allowed us  to use their side dining room as a meeting room each Monday night! This has been truly a blessing! They have also allowed us to put our signs up there and leave my rack cards, business cards, pens and buttons there as well. They and their staff can often be seen wearing an "Elect Penny Ogg for Supervisor of Elections" button as they work. Dan and Heather, you both have just done above and beyond for me and I appreciate it so very much!
We had some great attendance, and was able to update everyone on the campaign and give them a chance to become involved if they wanted to. All of them graciously have offered to help me in whatever way they can and I am so appreciative for that! It was a truly special time and I couldn't wait for the next one!

As most of you know last Tuesday evening, I was invited to speak, at the Highlands County Tea Party Meeting, with all of the other candidates for SOE as well. I was honored to be able to share with them my passion for my Country and for our election process and our VOTES! It was a nice evening and I gained some wonderful support. However, the evening ended on a traumatic note when fellow candidate, Rick Beebe, collapsed and died. We had just finished speaking and were about to be dismissed when he collapsed and although there was current and retired medical professionals there at the meeting, and the EMS arrived within 5 minutes, there was nothing more they could do. Our thoughts and prayers have been and will continue to be with his wife, Lucy, and their family and friends. I attended the viewing and funeral for him, and it was so sad to see his wife so distraught with grief. It made me realize again that we must live ready to die/ ready for the Lord's return because life is short and time here could be over any day!

On Thursday, I attended the National Day of Prayer Ceremony on the Courthouse lawn. It was wonderful to gather together and pray for our Nation, it's leaders, our County and it's leaders, and each other. It's a privilege to live in America, where we have the ability to pray without fear of imprisonment or death. It's a greater privilege however, to be a Christian and to be able to pray to One who hears and answers our prayers!
After the ceremony, there was a wonderful luncheon that followed at, Heartland Christian School. The students there did a great job serving us with a smile!! Several of our elected officials spoke and that was a special treat! Nala Price, a student of the school, sang a few songs for us that were really tremendous! Part of the staff and an another student, "sang" a song using sign language which was amazing! A huge thank-you to all who were involved in making that day a success!

This past Monday Evening, while another campaign meeting was taking place, I was speaking at a Home Owners Association. It was a privilege to be asked to talk to them and it was an honor to meet the wonderful people there and gain their support for which, I am so grateful!

While I was speaking there, My daughter, Holly, was carrying on our second campaign meeting. Again we had some great people come and attend and were eager to help us out with the campaign!
I am so thankful for each person who willingly gives up an evening of their week just to come and support me and what I am trying to accomplish for Highlands County Voters.

As for all of you, I want you to know that you are WELCOME, to stop in to any of our campaign meetings! The next one will be held on May 21st at 7:00 p.m. at Dairy Queen of South Sebring. I will from this point on be there, so if you would like to meet me or become involved, please stop in! I would love to meet you! Also, available at each meeting will be yard signs, buttons, pens, rack cards, and business cards. You're welcome to take some of those with you should you come. If you are interested in any of these and are unable to attend the meeting, feel free to contact me! I would be happy to get any of these items to you!

Thank you all again for your support! It is humbling to know that there are so many wonderful people out there who feel as I, Experience Counts!!
